Requirements for Earning a Skydiving B-License

Once you’ve achieved your A-license, the journey to your USPA B-license begins. Here are the essential requirements:

  • Complete 50 jumps;
  • Accumulate at least 30 minutes of freefall time;
  • Execute 10 jump landings within 10 meters (approx 33 feet) of a target.
  • Choose one of the following:

a) Perform a left & right 360, back loop, and repeat within 18 seconds;

b) Successfully complete 10 group freefall jumps;

c) Finish a water training course;

d) Successfully complete a canopy course:

  • Pass the B-license exam.

Where and How Can I Fulfill These Requirements?

You can complete these requirements at various skydiving centers with certified instructors. Look for locations offering water training, canopy courses, and the USPA B-license exam. Some centers may even have a calendar of events. If not, CONTACT THEM to schedule a date and time suitable for you.

Keep a detailed skydiving logbook, including:

  • Date, Location, Type of Plane, Exit Altitude, and Equipment Used (container and main parachute);
  • Freefall Time, which can be calculated using a chart based on exit altitude and skydive type;
  • Description of each jump, including exit type, freefall maneuvers, discipline, canopy flight, and landing distance from the target;
  • Get your logbook signed by a licensed jumper, instructor, S&TA, DZO, pilot, USPA judge, or USPA Board Member who witnessed your jump.

Skydiving B-License Costs

Upon completing your A-license, you’ll already have around 25-30 jumps, which count towards your B-license requirements. To achieve the B-license, you’ll need approximately 20 more jumps. In addition to jump costs, consider these expenses:

  • Gear Rental: Depending on the dropzone, you might need to rent gear for each jump until you own your equipment;
  • Coach Fees: If required, hiring a coach for advanced training jumps can be an additional expense;
  • Training Courses: Completing water training and canopy courses may involve course fees;
  • B-License Exam: There could be a fee for taking the B-license exam;
  • Miscellaneous Costs: Include costs for logbook, licenses, and any other administrative fees.
